Latin American Literature Today focuses on contemporary literature in the region and publishes critical essays, articles, book reviews, and more, as well as prose fiction and poetry. The magazine is published bilingually in Spanish and in English, putting translation at the center of the project. As Translation Editor, I oversee all translation aspects of the magazine, such as assessing and commissioning translations, and coordinating our contributing volunteer translators. I am also in charge of the section “On Translation,” dedicated to visibilizing the translator’s craft by featuring interviews with translators, essays on translating, and translation previews. I have also curated or helped arrange dossiers on important and varied literary figures in Latin America, securing collaborations with authors, presses, and translators, as well as cultural partnerships in the US and abroad, and organized online sponsored webinars and events with guest speakers.

In 2021, the magazine was selected as the Whiting Foundation Digital Prize Winner. The awarding committee has said: “The astoundingly ambitious Latin American Literature Today is an essential literary bridge across the Americas, distinguished by fully bilingual issues featuring the greatest contemporary writing in Spanish and indigenous languages. LALT already feels indispensable to American and international intellectual life.”
